Here are a compiled list of fixes and mods for GSS 4

These are the fixes and mods I have used, and compiled from this site, as well as the new Owner (who helped me alot). Thanks for all those who provided the fixes, and mods to make GSS 4.0 the Best!

These are some of the broken issues with GSS that I was able to get fixed with assistance. How many of you still have this problem, or would like help fixing them?

1.fix for "view" not working under broken media
2. fix for "forgotten password" email reset not working (email to reset does not send)
3. "daily views" cron job
4. 404 error reroute to use the script error page (index.php?params=error)
5. delete unconfirmed members in sql
6. featured game mod
7.random game/random featured game mod
8. set members default to recieve forum admin emails (default is not to recieve)
9. add phpbb forum with redirect page/301 permanent
10. disable indexing of swf directories
11. change game code from full html source to image box/link
12. upload favicon.ico
13.install sitemap in footer
14. activate google xml sitemap function
15. Mod for game full screen
16. Quick/easy Fix for game/media packs installed with wrong date (1969)
17.Admin Notes mod in Administration area
18.Mod- list media with comments added for media drop down in admin area

19.IMPORTANT!!! chmod your "uploadfiles" to 700-otherwise when a person uses the "submit" for games/media, they can instead upload a file/exe to the public_html directory then execute the program from web browser. (Even if the "submit" gives an error, the upload is in the uploads file) 700 will prevent access to dir/file-so even if a malware program is uploaded, it cannot be executed via webbrowser calling it.

20. Captcha in Tell-A-Friend (prevent robots/spammers sending email from your site)
21. Game slider to change the game screen size
22. Upload avatar option in profile
23. Fix-Admin area settings are backwards (i.e., ‘allow guests to view profiles’, ‘require login to comment’, 'require registration for tell-a-friend system')
(i.e., selecting "NO" actually is "yes", and allows indexing of members profiles, and emails, and access by guests/bots.)
24. the www.YOURSITE.com/admin "lost your password?" url link is broken- this can be worked around with a 301 permanent redirect
25. Add header link for automatic RSS feed detection in browsers and RSS readers
26. Pages for "Games/Media>Manage Media" in Admin Area, run past the container on bottom line
27. Make all exchange links open in new page: http://www.gamesitescript.com/vb/sho...0967#post10967
28. [New issue-not yet resolved] deleted media (game files) and non-existant games will still pullup blank pages without content instead of returning a 404 Not found header tag- Instead it returns a 200 OK status message to the browser
Is case you are unaware, this is very bad news as it tells the Browser/Search Engines that non-existant/deleted content exists and was found when it wasnt.
example of a non-existant Game that opens a page without game content, and returns a "200 Ok Found" status message in the header: http://www.gamesitescript.com/demo/i...0000000000000/

29. Properly configure robots.txt and include Sitemap for SEO

note-The issues with not disabling directory indexing is that anyone can simply type /swf after your site URL and then access and download all your games and videos.
[all directories are directly accessable from the web browser, and also indexed by search engines-putting all your data out there for anyone to get]
